SPiDCOM powers Chinese Ethernet-over-coax (EoC) market

PARIS, FRANCE: SPiDCOM Technologies, the fabless semiconductor company specializing in open solutions for anywire broadband communications, will present the largest range of products based on its EoC solutions during China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) show. CCBN is a leading international event for digital TV and broadband network industries.

SPiDCOM based EoC products take advantage of existing CATV networks to provide value-added services - like broadband Internet - all the while coexisting with classical CATV signals. SPiDCOM has been a precursor in this market with its Chinese partners, and now has a large installed base of products all around China.

Unlike legacy technologies, SPiDCOM EoC solutions are cost competitive and scalable, giving cable operator maximum flexibility. Global system performance (throughput, adaptation to attenuation and noise, number of nodes managed per master) makes SPiDCOM EoC solutions the ideal technology. This is the result of SPiDCOM's deep experience of Chinese market requirements and of previous extensive field deployments.

"SPiDCOM team cooperates very closely with its Chinese partners to develop the EoC solutions that best adapt to cable operators needs," said Radomir JOVANOVIC, President & CEO of SPiDCOM Technologies. "We are proud to be among them at CCBN show, and to promote all their products."

SPiDCOM EoC solutions, open and fully remotely manageable
SPiDCOM provides the semiconductor chips, software and reference designs to its partners, which then do the end-products. The SPiDCOM EoC solutions are based on an open platform with a Linux firmware.

SPiDCOM delivers General Public Licence (GPL) Kernel & other applications, as well as the adapted toolchain (gcc). This way, device manufacturers can easily develop and customize their own applications as well as their own network management tools.

Furthermore, they can also develop their own MIB for a perfect integration into their existing networks (e.g. EPON).

SPiDCOM EoC networks are fully manageable and remotely upgradable. SPiDCOM provides MIB files and SNMP agents for immediate integration into existing or standard Network Management Systems. Open architecture lets manufacturer design and customize network management tools match operator needs. In addition to the SNMP options proposed, it is also possible to use a Command Line Interface (CLI) or to implement a web based management system.
