ASRTCORP expands offerings in RTOS market

SAN JOSE, USA: Advanced Systems Research Technology Corp., a leading solutions provider to the global embedded device community, announced a distribution agreement with UMICOS Corporation, a leader in the quality design and development of high-performance RTOS solutions for OEMs worldwide.

Asrtcorp will distribute and support UMICOS's industry leading Catapult system including an embedded operating system (RTOS), an extensive suite of low-level drivers, top of the line development tools and a kernel aware debugger.

UMICOS Catapult is the first solution offering true Out-of-the-box experience for software development on ARM-based microcontrollers. A single-vendor solution encompassing an embedded operating system, low-level drivers and PC development tools, UMICOS Catapult provides the required software foundation and tools to create complex applications in record time. Unlike legacy solutions, no integration and low-level development is required as UMICOS Catapult is fully integrated and tested with the supported microcontrollers.

The embedded components of UMICOS Catapult include a real time kernel, USB stack, graphics, networking, storage subsystem and more, while the PC components feature a heavily customized Eclipse-based IDE, a GCC-based toolchain, project configuration tools and system monitoring facilities.

UMICOS Catapult embedded OS contains innovative mechanisms for power management, by utilizing the extensive power modes available in the included driver suite. UMICOS Catapult makes full use of the capabilities of modern, ARM-based microcontrollers, with full support for DMA, memory management (MMU/MPU), caching and high performance I/O operations to achieve staggering real-world performance. Dynamic power management is made possible by the excellent integration of Catapult with the target hardware, through the included set of drivers.
