PFU Systems announces new low power version of latest COM express module

SAN JOSE, USA: PFU Systems announces a low power version of their latest COM Express module. The Plug-N-Run L2 module is a redesign of their popular Plug-N-Run Ga module emphasizing the lowest possible power in a completely compliant Basic Type 2 COM Express module.

The L2 Computer On Module (COM) product is based on the Intel Atom processor. Complementing the Plug-N-Run E1, a server style COM Express Extended module, and the Plug-N-Run G5, a COM Express Basic form factor module available in a variety of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, the Plug-N-Run L2 fills out the lower end of PFU Systems’ COM Express product line.

“The L2 module now provides our customers with the best Intel performance per watt processor and System Controller Hub in a standards-based module drawing as little as 5 watts,” stated James Payne, PFU System’s Manager of Embedded Marketing. “The L2 module will provide our customers with a price competitive Intel Architecture package capable of fan-less operation with PFU’s proven reliability and superior thermal solutions.”

The Plug-N-Run L2 module is a fully COM Express compliant module in form factor and features, including legacy as well as state-of-the-art interfaces, such as VGA and LVDS display ports. The Plug-N-Run L2 module is available in both 1.1GHz and 1.6GHz versions using the Intel Z530 and Z510 processors and the US15W System Controller Hub. The L2 supports a full complement of serial and parallel interfaces, including 8 USB 2.0 ports, PCI Bus, 4 x1 PCI Express Lanes, and GigaBit Ethernet.
