ACME Portable Machines supports Intel Xeon Nehalem CPUs and AMD ATI FirePro graphics accelerators

AZUSA, USA: ACME Portable Machines Inc., a leading provider of rugged portable computer workstations, chassis, and industrial LCD keyboard drawers, announced the support of the Xeon 5500 series CPUs from Intel and the ATI FirePro series of 3D Workstation Graphics Accelerators from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. in its legendary EMP 370 and EMP 390 models.

The 3D professionals are now able to leverage Intel’s efficient processors and AMD’s high-performance GPUs to better perform computer-aided design, digital content creation, and simulation out in the field.

Intel’s new iteration of its Xeon family offers more efficient, high-performance processing at a lower operating cost – offering up to 2.75x performance increase than the previous Harpertown family. This new series brings several innovative technologies to deliver intelligent performance.

Intel Turbo Boost Technology, coupled with Intel Intelligent Power Technology, speeds specific workloads and reduces power consumption during low utilization periods by letting processors operate above the rated frequency rate.

Intel Hyper-Threading Technology delivers greater throughput and responsiveness for multi-threaded applications. Lastly, Intel QuickPath Technology, with an integrated memory controller, speeds traffic between processors and I/O controllers for bandwidth intensive applications.

AMD’s ATI FirePro line of graphics cards feature a new OpenGL optimized driver coupled with their award-winning graphics technology. These new graphics cards are ideal for 3D graphics professionals who perform computer-aided design, digital content creation, and simulation applications.

The DisplayPort and Dual-Link DVI outputs allow users the ability to use ultra high resolution widescreen monitors, and offer up to 30-bit image quality. Furthermore, the unique AMD ultra parallel processing architecture maximizes throughput by automatically directing graphics power exactly where it is needed. By utilizing the FirePro S400 Synchronization Module, users can and operate attach up to four GPUs simultaneously for the most demanding applications.
