Celeno helps Converge paid and over-the-top video services over one Wi-Fi home network

IBC2010, AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS: Celeno Communications, a leading provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, will demonstrate its technology with leading vendors advanced video distribution use cases at this year’s IBC trade show in Amsterdam.

Leveraging on IP video and Wi-Fi home networking service providers can easily converge their paid services with new Video on Demand (VoD) and over-the-top (OTT) Internet-based content to enrich consumers experience and compete effectively with Internet-based TV services. Furthermore, consumers are increasingly expecting their video content to be available in additional portable screens in the home.

Celeno’s carrier-grade Wi-Fi enables these exciting new services. Celeno’s OptimizAIR technology includes new capabilities that enable carrier-grade video streaming to third-party Wi-Fi devices. The OptimizAIR suite includes a special, channel-aware scheduler that optimizes transmit time, rate, power, beam forming matrices and antenna array in real time to each one of the receiving video clients, enforcing fairness and quality of service.

Celeno is demonstrating carrier-grade Wi-Fi technology to help service providers distribute IP based video content in the home to IP STBs and beyond: to connected TV’s, iPADs and laptops (Booth 5.B09d). Celeno will proudly retire its well-known mobile cart demo that made its first appearance at IBC 2008 in favor of a new, slick battery-backed iPAD.

In addition, NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, will include Celeno technology in two demonstrations on its Booth (1.A71): in the NDS demonstration of VoD with progressive download on a hybrid/satellite platform; and in the NDS Unified Gateway, an end-to-end system that takes a unified approach to distributing video, data and voice services in and around the home from a single point.
