SINGAPORE: NXP Semiconductors N.V. has officially kicked off the NXP mbed Design Challenge 2010, in collaboration with Circuit Cellar and Elektor International Media.
Starting now, engineers from around the world are invited to use the mbed NXP LPC1768 prototyping board and mbed online “Cloud” compiler to develop an innovative hardware- or software-based application.
Highlights:
* Deadline for design contest submissions: February 28, 2011.
* Cash prizes totaling $10,000 will be awarded to design contest winners.
* Design entries should include detailed project descriptions, schematics, project photos and source code – and anything else required to demonstrate the true merit of the design.
* Anyone with an mbed NXP LPC1768 prototyping board can enter, and thousands of complimentary mbed NXP LPC1768 kits are being distributed by NXP and ARM/mbed while supplies last.
* The Circuit Cellar judging panel will evaluate the projects based on a variety of factors, including technical merit, originality, usefulness, cost-effectiveness and design optimization.
* Winning projects will be posted online. Most notable projects will be featured as full-length articles on Circuit Cellar and Elektor.
Jan Jaap Bezemer, director of Marketing, microcontroller business line, NXP Semiconductors, said: “For contestants, this year’s NXP mbed Design Challenge will demonstrate just how easy it is to develop using mbed rapid prototyping tools. We’re looking forward to seeing the next wave of breakthrough designs based on the LPC1768 microcontroller.”
