CEDIA EXPO 2010, MILPITAS, USA: Sigma Designs announced that the avielo by projectiondesign is using Sigma’s VXP® image-processing technology.
One of the world’s most innovative suppliers of high-performance projectors, avielo by projectiondesign is using Sigma’s 12-bit Dual Channel, Dual Output VXP video processor (GF9452) incorporated at the heart of its avielo optix SuperWide235 DLP projector. The combination of Sigma’s industry leading image-processing chipset with avielo by projectiondesign’s projector technology sets a new industry standard for video quality.
“This is the first chipset to bring high-resolution cinemascope to the marketplace and its clarity is amazing. Hands down, our VXP chip offers the leading edge in video post-processing,” said David Lynch, vice president and general manager, Media Processor Group for Sigma Designs. “The avielo optix projector from projectiondesign is an outstanding example of how Sigma’s VXP technology can enable any new product platform that requires advanced image-processing technology.”
Sigma’s GF9452 with VXP can be applied to a broad variety of commercial applications from large-venue projection to high-end display solutions. In the high-end display market, VXP delivers quality and precision to professional and medical monitors. There is also a growing market for incorporating VXP into luxury home cinema deployments.
“Sigma’s VXP technology is best-in-class for all post-processing,” said Anders Løkke, international marketing and communications manager at projectiondesign. “With CEDIA Expo 2010 in Atlanta also as its global launch platform, the new avielo optix SuperWide235 projector is based on the Residential Systems magazine’s RESI Award-winning avielo optix Full HD projector.”
The GF9452 has an impressive feature set that enables the increased resolution, up to 2538x1080, application space by supporting two full channels and no-compromise processing from sources including the latest Blu-ray Disc players and sources with HDMI 1.4 outputs. With image enhancement and noise reduction available at all times and with all resolutions, the Sigma GF9452 is the ideal solution to partner with our avielo optix projector series.
VXP technology gives the GF9452 chipset an unparalleled edge in image-processing capabilities. The technology delivers a complete package of high-quality video processing algorithms for deinterlacing, scaling, image enhancement, and color management. This advanced technology, combined with the Sigma’s deep integration experience, enables OEMs to get their products to market first.
A powerful graphics engine allows for sophisticated on-screen display generation that is ideal for electronic program guides (EPG) and set-up menus. In addition, the GF9452 is backwards compatible with system software projects developed for previous generation VXP video processors. This enables system designers already experienced with VXP products to greatly reduce time-to-market by re-using existing software and interfaces.
“A key driver in the growth of 3D will be the availability of new and compelling technology to expand applications of home and commercial use,” said Michael Palma, senior research analyst for IDC. “Sigma’s VXP is a prime example of a unique technology that OEMs can leverage to not only expand their market reach but also create new markets.”
