American India Foundation appoints Jay O. Kerley to its board of directors

BANGALORE, INDIA: The American India Foundation (AIF) inducted Jay O. Kerley as the newest member of its Board of Directors on September 25th at its annual board meeting in Chicago. Kerley is currently the corporate VP and deputy CIO at Applied Materials Inc.

The Vice Chair of AIF Board, Ms. Lata Krishnan, considers Kerley’s corporate credentials a great benefit for the Board, and said: “We are very pleased to have Kerley join our board. I am sure he will be an asset to AIF as we enter into the second decade of AIF’s existence and his IT background will be helpful for AIF’s Digital Equalizer Program.”

Dr. Sanjay Sinho, AIF’s CEO, said: “Jay’s passion for program development and demonstrated interest in India will be a tremendous asset to the American India Foundation. We are very excited to be working with him.”

Kerley is responsible for Global Information Services strategy, planning, operations, infrastructure, and development at Applied Materials. Prior to joining Applied Materials in 2006, Kerley led Global Operations and Mergers and Acquisitions Integration at DHL Americas. In 2009, he was named to CIO magazine’s “Ones to Watch” list and honored for his role as a change agent.

“I have had a long-standing personal and professional involvement with the Indian culture and look forward to supporting this outstanding foundation and its valuable life-changing programs,” Kerley said.

“I have been very impressed with the work the AIF is accomplishing, seeing firsthand the impressive Digital Equalizer program in Bangalore schools that is being supported by The Applied Materials Foundation. I believe it’s critical to help improve educational opportunities for India’s children.”
