MEYREUIL, FRANCE: StarChip, experts in designing and qualifying Smart Card ICs, is opening a new office in Shanghai China. The first part of a multi-phase plan to expand its operation and sales to China.
With its strong position in electronics manufacturing, China is poised to play a significant role in the semiconductor industry, therefore one of the keys to global competitiveness and growth of StarChip lies in the creation of a strong and flexible manufacturing network in China backed by StarChip local presence.
“Expanding our operation to have engineers based in Shanghai is the logical first step to sustain the growing activity with our manufacturing partners in China,” said Christian Dupuy, COO of StarChip. “We are proud to have Keanwai Chan as chief representative of the Office. Chan has a successful track record of customer interface activities for several well-known Chinese wafer fabs. He will be in charge of managing both product engineering and quality control locally. StarChip will be able then to provide a clear structure and continuous quality of our products and services throughout the whole supply chain.”
StarChip continues to expand its design and industrialization capabilities to meet the growing demand driven by SIM and M2M controllers’ success. StarChip products portfolio is expanding and requiring more and more resources for product engineering and quality monitoring. In addition, StarChip continues to work closely with customers, foundries, and backend subcontractors to reconfigure and improve the efficiency of the value chain to better control cost drivers and achieve a competitive advantage.
