BANGALORE, INDIA: Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Cadence Design Systems Inc., announced the launch of the Cadence Design Contest 2012, the annual competition for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. Now in its seventh year, the contest aims at fostering the spirit of inventiveness and realization of ideas among the engineering student community in India. The Cadence Design Contest invites participation from undergraduate and graduate students (B. Tech and M. Tech) from over 250 Indian institutions that use Cadence technologies. Each project team can have up to four students and includes a faculty member as the guide. The submitted abstracts go through three rigorous rounds of evaluation by a panel of experts that consists of Cadence and industry experts. The winners and runners-up in both categories will receive a cash prize and the winners will also get an opportunity to present their award-winning projects at CDNLive! India, the Cadence annual user conference.

Jaswinder Ahuja, corporate VP and MD, Cadence Design Systems (India), said: “The semiconductor industry in India faces a huge gap in ‘design aware’ manpower. Cadence has been at the forefront of bridging the gap by fostering growth of technical talent and design innovation in India’s academic community through the Cadence University Program. The Cadence Design Contest is an integral part of the Program, and provides students with challenging opportunities to compete for excellence in operational chip design or conceptual design.”

Cadence India focuses on a wide range of manpower-development initiatives including the Government of India's Special Manpower Development Project, Cadence University Program, and the Cadence VLSI Certification Program for students.
