iWatt opens IC design centers in Beijing and Tianjin

CAMPBELL, USA: Silicon Valley-based iWatt Inc., a developer of energy-efficient digital power supply control integrated circuits (ICs) used in leading-edge power supplies, announced that it has opened two IC design centers in China, one in Beijing and another in Tianjin.

This expands iWatt’s presence in China, where the company opened an engineering center in Shenzhen in June 2010 to support the growing number of Asian manufacturers designing solid-state lighting (SSL), and cell phone and tablet PC power adapters.

To staff the Beijing and Tianjin centers, iWatt has acquired an existing engineering group with significant power management IC design experience from a company in Tianjin. These IC designers bring skills to expedite iWatt’s move into several new high-growth markets.
