Lattice ships 75 million MachXO PLDs

HILLSBORO, USA: Lattice Semiconductor Corp. has shipped more than 75 million MachXO PLDs (programmable logic devices) since their introduction. Widely adopted in a broad range of high volume, cost sensitive applications, customers worldwide are taking advantage of the MachXO PLD family’s innovative combination of ease-of-use, flexibility, system integration and price.

The MachXO PLD family's unique system integration benefits have continued to drive its widespread adoption in a broad range of low-density applications that require general purpose I/O expansion, interface bridging and power-up management functions. Offering customers an "All-in-One-PLD," the MachXO PLD family provides distributed and embedded memory, built-in PLLs, high performance LVDS I/O, remote field upgrade (TransFR™ technology) and a low power sleep mode, all in a single device.

"The widespread adoption of the MachXO PLD family in system and consumer applications reflects our customers' enthusiastic acceptance of low cost, low power, non-volatile PLDs to quickly bring their products to rapidly evolving markets," said Shakeel Peera, Lattice director of Marketing for Silicon & Solutions. "The rate of MachXO PLD device shipments has grown to more than 25 million units per year to a variety of end markets, including consumer, communications, computing, industrial and medical."

Building upon the success of the MachXO PLD architecture, Lattice now offers the next generation MachXO2 PLD family for new designs. The MachXO2 PLD family delivers a 3X increase in logic density, a 10X increase in embedded memory and more than a 100X reduction in static power, all at significantly lower cost. In addition, MachXO2 PLDs include hardened implementations of commonly used functions such as User Flash Memory (UFM), I2C, SPI and timer/counter.
