Analogix SlimPort accessories adopters program welcomes Simula Technology

2012 International CES, SANTA CLARA, USA & TAIPEI, TAIWAN: Analogix Semiconductor announced that Simula Technology, Inc. has joined the SlimPort Accessories Adopters Program (SAAP).

Developed by Analogix and based on core DisplayPort technologies, the SlimPort product line enables the delivery of uncompressed audio and video from a mobile device to HD and legacy displays. The SlimPort family of transmitters and receivers is compatible with the Mobility DisplayPort (MYDP) digital interface, which allows the standard Micro USB port to be used for both DisplayPort and USB connectivity.

The SlimPort Accessories Adopters Program (SAAP) enables more rapid development with less new-design risk of cables, docking stations and adapters that allow users to connect smartphones, tablet PCs and notebook computers content to large screen displays. Members in the SAAP pay no royalties, licensing, or annual fees.

“Analogix SlimPort enables theater-quality connectivity to any big screen using a standard mobile USB connector, with minimal or zero battery consumption,” says CK Wang, director of Engineering for Simula Technology, based in Taipei, Taiwan. “Joining SAAP allows us to more quickly develop high-quality accessories that deliver the best mobile to big screen experience on the market.”

Companies with SAAP membership have access to documentation and components, as well as technical support from the ADTC-EasyHD Test Lab in Beijing, China and free product certification. Each accessory must meet standards for product quality and compliance. Once a product receives certification, its manufacturer receives the benefit of being listed on the Analogix website and submission to top-level mobile handset makers for evaluation and mass production.

“We welcome Simula Technology to SAAP, as their participation further strengthens the accessories ecosystem for SlimPort,” said Andre Bouwer, VP of Marketing for Analogix. “Consumers want to carry their growing libraries of HD content on a mobile device and view them on larger displays. With SlimPort, makers of mobile phones and other portable devices can feel confident in their commitment to the integration of SlimPort chips or IP cores.”

SlimPort enables mobile devices—without forcing any form factor changes on the manufacturer—to render on any display. Using only three signal pins, SlimPort connects a mobile device to any display, whether VGA or HDMI. The connection, which is completely transparent to the user, is via ultra-thin SlimPort cables up to five meters in length. SlimPort supports resolutions from SD up to full HD and 3-D display and 7.1 channel audio capabilities.
