STARCHIP selects LFoundry to jointly develop secure MCU solutions

MEYREUIL, FRANCE: StarChip, an expert in designing and qualifying smart card IC, announced that it has selected LFoundry, the European specialist of foundry services, to develop state of the art secure microcontrollers solutions to address ID and payment markets.

Building on StarChip's experience in Smart Card ICs, embedded security solutions and certifications, and on LFoundry's experience in producing competitive secure ICs in Europe, especially with this new technology LF110, the two companies aim to deliver secure ICs solutions that will fit with the global requirements of the payment and ID markets.

In addition, StarChip will have the capabilities to support LFoundry’s Customers in order to secure and certify their own products, with a full range of secure IPs and local services available. The offer includes security co-processors, security subsystems, security modules and cryptographic cores that could be customized for different applications (mobile, automotive, networking, content protection, industrial…). StarChip will support customers with its expertise for IC certification (Common Criteria, EMVCo certification…).

The two companies are addressing the increasing demand for security and certification and aim to be ranked among the European leaders in providing highly reliable embedded security solutions. Through this partnership, the two companies can offer guarantees on the security chain thanks to their geographical proximity and to their historical experiences.
