MUNICH, GERMANY: Cadence Design Systems Inc. celebrated its annual CDNLive! EMEA user conference in Munich with the highest number of attendees since its inception six years ago. More than 600 delegates from over 150 international companies attended the conference from May 3-5, 2011 in Munich.
CDNLive! brings together Cadence technology users, developers, academics and industry experts to discuss today’s design challenges and tomorrow’s breakthrough solutions. This year’s conference focused on new technologies and methodologies for realizing EDA360, complemented by a rich program of technical presentations.
At the event, Cadence announced the worldwide launch of its new Cadence System Development Suite, a game-changing electronic design solution for app-driven electronics. It is a new suite of products that promises to cut system integration time by up to half for next-generation designs by bringing hardware and software development closer together than ever before.
Attendees of this year’s event were welcomed with a keynote by Lip-Bu Tan, Cadence president and CEO. Tan highlighted global market trends and economics in the semiconductor and EDA industry. In addition, guest speaker Philippe Magarshack, group vice president, Technology R&D at ST Microelectronics, discussed research and development as a competitive advantage in digital convergence.
Wolfgang Stronski, marketing director of Cadence EMEA, commented: “The outstanding number of attendees this year can be attributed to the recovery of the industry. But it also demonstrates that our user conference has become a must-attend event for Cadence customers. First-time attendees often tell us that they are completely surprised by the size of the event. Furthermore, they say the valuable content in the presentations will help them tackle their design tasks when they return to work.”
Most outstanding design win
This year at CDNLive! EMEA, Cadence presented for the first time an Outstanding Design Award. The Cadence Allegro team, together with a group of the European Cadence Channel Partners selected Kontron for this award.
Kontron, a leading manufacturer of embedded systems, submitted an innovative approach to SiP technology in a low-budget design, which allows designers to reduce the design size, and thus helps reduce power requirements on the board. The design was realized using Cadence Allegro technology.
