Vishay Intertechnology announces its sales office in Tokyo and all Japan employees are safe

MALVERN, USA: Vishay Intertechnology Inc. provided an update on the impact to Vishay operations from the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Its sales office in Tokyo is safe and all Vishay employees who work in Japan are well. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has no manufacturing sites in Japan. There is no impact to Vishay factories in other Asian countries as a result of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

All members of the Vishay family express their deepest condolences to those who have been impacted by the disaster.

To minimize potential disruption to Vishay operations, Vishay has activated its business continuity plan. The plan is being implemented successfully. Vishay Sales employees in Japan have resumed their work at home and will gradually return to the office once the train services stabilize.

Vishay’s Japanese distributors have assured Vishay that they are functioning normally. In the event that the situation changes, Vishay has contingency plans in place. Vishay has not yet been informed of any impact to its suppliers’ factories. Vishay’s Purchasing department is compiling data on the status of all its suppliers in order to monitor and avert or minimize potential disruptions to logistics and other functions. These suppliers will need time to review and assess their situations.

Most of Vishay’s raw materials are sourced from suppliers in multiple locations.
