Damages caused at Furukawa by Tohoku district -- off the Pacific ocean earthquake

JAPAN: This is to inform you of our situation caused by the damege of Tohoku district -off the Pacific Ocean Earthquake broke out on March 11th. The damage situation in Furukawa Electric, on March 14th at 11:00, are as follows.

At this moment, we are checking the damage situations in each works with utmost efforts. We are sorry for all your inconvenience, and we really appreciate all your understanding in consideration of this situation.

Chiba works
Human sufferings: No big human suffering, except for some tiny injuries.
Property damages: The central drain ditch was broken for about 100m.
Damages are observed in buildings and equipments influenced by liquefaction phenomena and we are checking about details.
Operation: Restart timing has not determined yet. This will be announced as soon as fixed.

Nikko works
Human sufferings: No human suffering.
Property damages: Water leakage was caused by a damage in a main aqueduct. A number of breakages were made in ceilings and walls.
Operation: Restart timing is under consideration by checking planed power outage and equipment.

Copper foil works
Human sufferings: No human suffering.
Property damages: Some damages in exterior walls and inside walls. Partial fallings in ceilings, water leakages and breaks in piping were caused. Some damages in production and electrical equipments.
Operation: Operation is affected by planned power outage and held for about a week.

Hiratsuka works
Human sufferings: No human suffering.
Property damages: Fluorescents falling and some test equipments were partially damaged. No big damages were caused in equipment.
Operation: Operation was partially performed on the 11th. Future operation is in consideration based on planned power outage.
