Cypress intros five new CapSense design guides

SAN JOSE, USA: Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced the release of five new CapSense Design Guides. The new guides are complete reference manuals detailing the CapSense technology as well as how to implement it into a variety of end products. The guides give comprehensive information in an easy to find and use format while assisting the designer in eliminating common mistakes related to sensor layout and tackling noisy systems.

The five new Design Guides include a Getting Started Guide which is a must-read for those new to CapSense and interested in detailed discussion on key points such as design consideration, PCB layout guidelines and best practices. The four product design guides focus on each CapSense controller family, streamlining the design process for the CY8C20x34, CY8C20xx6A, CY8C21x34, and CY8CMBR2044 families.

Each family design guide includes links to the entire design ecosystem including data sheets, application notes, software tools, development kits and other materials that help designers create more efficient designs faster. These guides also assist in your design for advanced UI features such as proximity and water proofing. The guides are available for download today at www.cypress.com/go/capsense.

Cypress is the worldwide leader in capacitive touch-sensing with the industry’s broadest portfolio. Its PSoC-based CapSense devices offer unmatched flexibility and integration, addressing a broad range of designs from complex, feature-rich applications to simple button replacement. Cypress also offers SmartSense Auto-tuning, an automatic tuning solution for the CapSense devices.

The typical design method entails tuning the sensor interface in the initial design phase, during system integration and finally production fine-tuning prior to the production ramp. SmartSense Auto-tuning was developed to simplify the user interface development cycle. It is easy to use and significantly reduces the design cycle time by eliminating the tuning process throughout the entire product development cycle from prototype to mass production. SmartSense Auto-tuning is the only complete self tuning solution available in the market.

“We’re pleased to offer a better user experience for engineers with these Design Guides. Using the guides in conjunction with our SmartSense Solution, engineers now have a complete set of tools to implement next generation designs in CapSense and proximity sensing,” says Dirk Franklin, director of Cypress’s CapSense Business Unit. “The guides will allow customers to locate all the information they need to complete a design in one place. This makes the Cypress solution not only the best in performance, but also in ease of use.”
