GCT Semiconductor's WiMAX single-chip powers Infomark's mobile hotspot device

SAN JOSE, USA: GCT Semiconductor, a leading supplier of Mobile WiMAX solutions, announced that its mobile WiMAX single-chip, GDM7205, is the key component that enables the world’s fastest hotspot device manufactured by Infomark.

With GCT’s advanced 4G chip, this hotspot device recently announced by the lead US WiMAX operator, offers a unique feature allowing users to operate in a “USB-tethered mode,” where the device can function as a WiMAX USB dongle-like device.

With numerous design-wins worldwide, GCT’s GDM7205 continues to be the leading ODM and operator choice for enabling advanced WiMAX devices. GCT’s GDM7205, designed into numerous devices commercially available today, is a high performing single-chip which reduces PCB design complexity, offers low power consumption and provides a small form factor to optimize mobile WiMAX implementation.

“True to our design philosophy of GCTMobility, GCT’s GDM7205 is market-proven in Japan, Korea, Russia, Malaysia, US, and many other WiMAX markets, and offers the industry’s lowest power consumption, highest throughput, and best handover capability for mobile applications,” commented Dr. Kyeongho “KH” Lee, president and CEO of GCT Semiconductor.

“It is a great pleasure to team up with Infomark to provide this very attractive mobile hot spot device, which we believe will further enhance the value proposition of WiMAX and also increases GCT’s design win footprint in the US market.”

“GCT’s world class GDM7205 chip, attractive BOM, and dedicated support contributed greatly in the making of this unique hotspot,” commented Dr. Choi, president and CEO of Infomark. “We will continue to work with GCT to develop and launch innovative products to the market, and continue to dedicate our company’s resources to successfully expand the Mobile WiMAX ecosystem.”
