BANGALORE, INDIA & CAMPBELL, USA: Cosmic Circuits announced that its mixed-signal chip-interface IP core for the MIPI® standard has been successfully integrated and validated on system-on-chip silicon by MtekVision, Korea’s largest fabless semiconductor company.
Cosmic Circuits, a provider of a broad portfolio of nanometer Analog IP cores covering Data-Converters, Analog-Front-End platforms for Wireless and Audio, Power-Management, Clocking and low-power Interfaces, has now demonstrated silicon success with its MIPI D-PHY mixed-signal core, now integrated into MtekVision’s system-on-chip.
The core designed for TSMC’s 65nm process technology, enables high-speed serial communication between imaging and processor chips on mobile gadgets, while consuming low power from the battery. MtekVision, a high-volume supplier of application-processor system-on-chips for the mobile market is now preparing for the mass production of the chip integrated Cosmic’s MIPI core.
Dr. Moon Kabju, Director of R&D Division for MtekVision while commenting on this partnership said: “Our mobile application processor SOCs and the market we serve, requires differentiation in terms of low-power and low cost. Integrating a MIPI interface reduces system power and allows for easier interoperability. But we needed a mixed-signal partner that could deliver with certainty.”
He continued: “Cosmic brought both good technology as well as a supportive team that we could rely on. We are happy that Cosmic’s IP integrated into our chip and fabricated at TSMC has worked first pass. Overall, Mtek’s experience with Cosmic and TSMC has been smooth and rewarding.”
Dan Kochpatcharin, IP Portfolio Marketing Deputy Director at TSMC, commented: “As the leading foundry provider, we continually encourage and develop an eco-system of leading IP vendors such as Cosmic Circuits. We are happy that our customer, MtekVision, has been able to leverage the combination of our stable development platform with Cosmic’s mixed-signal IP. This is yet another demonstration of our proven path to success.”
Ganapathy Subramaniam, CEO of Cosmic Circuits, added: “MtekVision is an important fabless semiconductor company in Korea. We understood that, they needed differentiating mixed-signal technology and one that brings certainty with their time-to-market. I am happy we were able to enable them reach their goals with our 65nm mixed-signal core designed for the MIPI® standard.”
He added: “Mtek quickly reaching functional silicon with our IP working first-pass, is the kind of reassuring experience we are here to provide SOC developers with. We are committed to our mixed-signal and MIPI roadmap and look forward to many such successes in future.”
Cosmic Circuits constantly endeavors to bring differentiated and silicon-proven Analog and Mixed-Signal IP cores to the design-community for integration on system-on-Chips. A majority of the nanometer cores available from Cosmic are suited for portable and fixed consumer, wireless, and convergence applications, among others.
