Amulet's GUI design tool enables Smartphone-like graphics in 8-, 16-, and 32-bit embedded systems

Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley 2010, SAN JOSE, USA: Amulet Technologies, a leader in graphic user interface (GUI) solutions, announced the availability of GEMstudio, a drag-and-drop GUI development environment for creating high-end, color touchscreen human-machine-interfaces (HMIs), with smartphone-like graphics, for 8-, 16-, and 32-bit bit embedded systems.

GEMstudio integrates tools for visual layout, interactive PC based simulation, and programming of the flash memory in the target embedded hardware. Since the same rendering engine is used for the WYSIWYG layout tool, Amulet’s royalty free graphical OS on its GUI OS IC, and the GUI simulator, graphic designers can always see exactly how the design will look on the production hardware.

GEMstudio’s interactive OS simulator allows usability testing and visual proofing of the UI without the target hardware. Additionally, GEMstudio can compile the entire GUI and program it directly into flash memory on the target device.

Pricing and Availability. GEMstudio is available now for $499. Amulet’s GEM Graphical OS Chip is available now for $6.72 in quantities of 100k units. LCD Evaluator Kits are available for $199, plus the price of the display. Amulet’s GEMexpress GUI OS boards, are available now and are priced at $69 in quantities of 5K units.
