Gionee selects IDT PureTouch capacitive touch controller for mobile phone

SAN JOSE, USA: IDT (Integrated Device Technology Inc.) announced that the IDT PureTouch capacitive touch controller has been selected by Gionee Communication, a leading China handset provider, for use in its slider-style mobile phone. Gionee selected the IDT touch solution because of its ultra-low power consumption, analog architecture and easy customization.

Moreover, through its streamlined system design, the IDT PureTouch controller was able to help Gionee improve time-to-market for its S606 mobile phone. IDT touch solutions also offer increased user interface flexibility by giving designers several implementation formats, including button, slider and scroll options.

“IDT is pleased to be chosen by Gionee for its latest mobile phone. Gionee recognizes the important advantages that IDT PureTouch technology can provide in today’s consumer devices,” said Alvin Wong, general manager of the IDT Advanced User Interface group. “Improving the user’s experience is critical in a competitive market, and IDT technology is helping enable this by replacing the traditional mechanical buttons with an easy-to-use touch interface.”

“IDT PureTouch capacitive sensing technology allows us to provide intuitive interface solutions for next-generation mobile devices with best-in-class usability and a stylish design. The addition of the IDT PureTouch capacitive interface solution to our latest mobile phone will keep us at the forefront of the industry,” said Qiu Han, project manager at Gionee Communication. “We are very satisfied with the local technical support from IDT in helping us design a new mobile phone in line with our time-to-market requirements.”
