Conexant wins video surveillance design with huperLab

NEWPORT BEACH, USA: Conexant Systems Inc. announced that Huper Laboratories Co. Ltd (huperLab) has selected the company’s video surveillance products for its new family of digital video recorder (DVR) server boards. Taiwan-based huperLab provides intelligent video surveillance systems and DVR products for global video security and surveillance applications.

The huperVision 4000 DSS Server Board Gaia Series integrates Conexant’s CX25853 and CX25821 video solutions, and an Intel Atom processor, to enable powerful video optimization and compression on DVR video surveillance systems. huperLab’s next-generation server boards feature the industry’s lowest power consumption, and are shipping to customers worldwide now.

“We are pleased that huperLab has selected our leading-edge, power-efficient video decoder and media bridge solutions for their next-generation video surveillance products,” said René Hartner, vice president of marketing for Conexant. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with huperLab and working to deliver additional cost-effective, high-performance solutions for the growing surveillance and security market.”

Albert Yang, general manager of huperLab, stated: “After careful assessment and testing, we chose Conexant’s highly reliable video solutions because they provide the lowest power consumption with the highest level of integration, driver support, and performance required for advanced, cost-sensitive DVR video security applications. Environmental stewardship is an important consideration for huperLab and many of our customers. The combination of Conexant’s low-power solutions and Intel’s powerful Atom processor enabled us to deliver a new family of cost-effective server boards with market-leading performance, while minimizing the impact on our environment.”

The huperVision 4000 DSS Server Board Gaia 404/408/416 is a complete on-board hardware and software DVR solution that enables the capture and digitization of images from up to 16 analog cameras, which are then sent via the PCIe interface to the PC for display, analysis, and/or recording.

The server boards require fewer than 60 watts of power for operation — less than half the power consumption of other solutions — and are offered in a compact Mini-ITX form factor (6.75” x 6.75”/ 17.15 cm x 17.15 cm). Running with huperLab’s huperVision 4000 software suite, the Gaia Series provides rich video analytics and CMS features to meet market demands.

Conexant’s highly integrated CX25853 is the world’s only eight-channel video decoder, and is targeted at advanced, high-capacity DVR surveillance products that capture and record multiple video streams simultaneously. The CX25821 media bridge enables multi-channel, bi-directional uncompressed digital audio and video transfers to a host computer for preview, processing, or compression via the PCIe interface. Together, these devices form a complete eight-channel, industry-standard D1 digital video solution for real-time video surveillance DVR applications.
