Computex Taipei 2013, TAIWAN: Silicon Image, a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, announced that its reference design collaboration with MediaTek has resulted in seven new design wins for MHL-enabled smartphone models.
The reference design, based on MediaTek’s Quad-Core MT6589 smartphone platform and Silicon Image’s SiI8338 MHL transmitter with Media Data Tunneling (MDT) technology, delivers a premium smartphone experience at competitive price points. Consumers can turn their MHL-enabled smartphones into ultra-portable PCs or multi-media entertainment devices when connected to MHL-enabled computing accessories or large displays.
“The MediaTek platform combined with Silicon Image’s MHL transmitter paves the way for a variety of powerful, yet economical MHL-enabled smartphones that lets consumers experience the ‘plug and play’ benefits of MHL technology,” said David Kuo, senior marketing director at Silicon Image. “To be able to transform your smartphone into a productivity workstation, gaming console or entertainment hub, while keeping the device at a competitive price point, is truly enriching the mobile HD experience.”
The seven new MHL smartphone designs based on the MediaTek smartphone reference platforms include models from various companies based in China and India.
