ISA welcomes draft National Policy on Electronics

BANGALORE, INDIA: The India Semiconductor Association (ISA) has welcomed the announcement of the draft National Policy on Electronics by the government of India.

“The draft NPE-2011 represents perhaps the most significant step for the electronics industry and specifically ESDM industry in India in the past many years” said Dr. Satya Gupta, vice chairman, ISA, and president & CEO of Concept2Silicon Systems Pvt Ltd.

“The holistic approach proposed for innovation amd product creation will provide the necessary fuel to address the $400 billion demand for electronics products by 2020. ISA whole heartedly welcomes and supports the provisions of the NPE-2011 and also the proposed change of name of the Department of IT to the Department of Electronics and IT. We believe that this enhanced focus will usher a new era for electronics industry to fuel future growth of India,” he added.

PVG Menon, president, ISA, added: “We welcome the vision of the government to transform the ESDM landscape in India, and we are sure that this policy will give a much needed fillip to the electronics and system design industry in India.

"Measures like the electronic product development fund, the focus on talent development and the preferential market access to local products could act as the key catalysts to spurring innovation and the growth of world class companies in this sector. We look forward to playing our role as a knowledge partner to Department of Electronics & IT, and in playing our part in helping government to realize this vision.”
