TSMC expands physical verification support in integrated sign-off flow with Magma Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS

BANGALORE, INDIA: Magma Design Automation Inc. announced that TSMC has selected Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS for physical verification in TSMC’s Integrated Sign-off Flow (ISF).

TSMC provides certified flow comprising proven, best-in-class tools to enable the fastest path to TSMC silicon. The flow is now available for 65-nanometer (nm) designs.

“Design success at 65 nm requires an advanced flow that significantly reduces turnaround time and development costs," said S.T. Juang, senior director of design infrastructure marketing at TSMC.

"We expanded EDA support of physical verification in Integrated Sign-off Flow with Magma after we and key customers used them successfully on a number of complex designs. By integrating Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS into the ISF, we minimize customers’ setup and deployment costs and make it easier for them to leverage accurate and best-in-class physical verification for sign-off.”

Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS are architected to process integrated circuit designs of any size, at any technology node, in the least amount of time. The Quartz tools are fully compatible with third-party IC implementation flows and can read file formats used by traditional physical verification tools.

“Whether targeting 90, 65, 40 or 28 nm, reducing costs by shortening the design cycle is a common goal among the growing list of Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS users,” said Anirudh Devgan, general manager of Magma’s Custom Design Business Unit.

“TSMC’s decision to deploy Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS as the sign-off physical verification tool for the 65-nm ISF is a reflection of the software’s ability to provide the fast turnaround time and high accuracy.”
