MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA: Cavium Networks, a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the connected home, announced that Zinwell Corp., a provider of LCD TVs, cable/satellite/IPTV receiver boxes, and wireless equipment, has adopted Cavium’s PureVu video processors with netHDTM technology to enable several next generation designs with WiFi-based wireless display capability.
The new Zinwell products will leverage Cavium’s superior H.264 video processor family, with industry leading SLL (Super-Low-Latency) Technology, to address high quality whole home media distribution, as well as extremely latency-sensitive applications such as gaming.
Cavium’s ability to enable end-to-end, whole home distribution of HDCP 2.0 protected content via standard WiFi networking played a key role in providing Zinwell with a scalable platform strategy for offering a range of home media streaming and digital content sharing products.
“Zinwell has been very successful in establishing itself as a strong provider of digital content delivery equipment through both the service provider and the retail channels,” said Paul Wu, Senior Business Manager at Zinwell. “What Cavium’s PureVu video processors with their built-in netHD intelligence have allowed us to do is to create a platform strategy for a wide range of content distribution products throughout the home.”
Cavium’s PureVu video processors have been deployed in a wide range of content delivery, low latency broadcast, and video communication devices. The recently introduced CNW5XXX family combines the best of what Cavium has to offer in high resolution, low latency video processing, with world class security and network processing into a single SoC design that can optimally address the emerging wireless display and home content distribution applications.
Fully standards-based, Cavium’s netHD technology offers OEMs and ODMs a platform strategy that offers a unique path towards scalability and compatibility. In addition to its industry leading H.264 SLL TechnologyTM for latency sensitive applications, Cavium’s netHD stack also provides added intelligence, called SMART (Secure Minimum-latency Adaptation and Reliable Transmission) technology, to ensure smooth and protected video transmission even in the most difficult WiFi environments.
“We are very excited about Zinwell’s decision to select our PureVu video processor family for its next generation home media distribution products,” said Lars Herlitz, GM of Cavium’s Multimedia Group. “The solid traction and the rapid adoption of our PureVu video processors with netHD technology is an indication of the market’s strong preference for standards-based solutions that don’t suffer from limitations in compatibility, scalability, and system cost.”
