ON Semiconductor expands portfolio of high performance industrial IC offerings

USA: ON Semiconductor continues to advance power management in high performance industrial integrated circuit (IC) solutions. The newest devices have a high degree of robustness, support a wide operational temperature range, and  possess strong performance levels while operating on minimal power consumption.

ON Semiconductor  introduced the NCN5120 KNX transceiver at this year’s Electronica. This highly integrated device supports the transmission and reception of data on a twisted pair network bus and is compliant with the KNX standard for home and building automation. The tranceiver has a built-in 20 volt (V) voltage regulator and two high efficiency DC-DC converters.

The first converter features a fixed output voltage of 3.3 V, while the second provides an adjustable output voltage between 3.3 V and 21 V. This device is ideal for high power applications such as smart lighting systems, ventilation/air conditioning systems, thermostats, smoke detectors and alarm systems.

The  NCS37000, NCS37005 and NCS37012, also being introduced at the event, are ground fault interrupter (GFI) controllers capable of carrying out the signal processing activities associated with GFI applications. Supporting 6.0 V to 18 V operation and with a power consumption of just 5 milliwatts (mW), these devices integrate a flexible power supply, including shunt and low drop-out (LDO) voltage regulators. They offer differential fault detection circuits and have a built-in grounded neutral detect function.

ON Semiconductor’s proprietary fault processing circuitry allows high performance to be achieved with a single low turns ratio current transformer. These devices are compatible with low cost ferrite current transformers and have been highly optimized for load panel breaker and GFI receptacle applications. The NCS37012 incorporates a comprehensive self-test circuit that is compatible with the emerging UL mandated self-test standard.

The NCP59300, NCP5915x, NCP57152, NCP57302 and NCP58302 are high precision, high current, very low drop-out (VLDO) voltage regulators with a low minimum input voltage (1.8 V) an output current of 3.0 amperes (A) and low ground current characteristics. The NCP59300, NCP5915x and NCP57152 can deliver typical drop-out voltages below 300 millivolts (mV) for a 3.0 A load current, while the NCP57302 and NCP58302 deliver 315 mV and 370 mV respectively at this load current.
These devices can all withstand up to 18 V (maximum) input voltage and have built-in thermal shutdown and reverse output current protection features. They are highly suited to use in industrial power supplies and process control systems, as well as data/telecommunications infrastructure and automotive modules.

Also highlighted at the booth will be ON Semiconductor IGBTs, these devices feature a robust and cost effective trench technology construction, that provide superior performance in high frequency switching applications. The newest devices have expanded the current portfolio to include product ratings up to 40 A.

The NGTB40N120FLWG, NGTB25N120FLWG and NGTB15N120FLWG feature low switch losses and include an ultra fast recovery diode making them ideal for high frequency solar, UPS and inverter welder applications. The NGTB30N120LWG and NGTB40N120LWG are suited for hard switching applications, such as motor control inverters applications while the NGTB30N120IHLWG, NGTB40N120IHLWG, NGTB20N120IHSWG, and NGTB30N120IHSWG offer balancing switching and conduction losses for induction heating and other soft switching applications operating including hot pots, rice cookers and microwave appliances.
