Beceem’s high-performance 4G-WiMAX CPE chip powers open range communications devices

DENVER & SANTA CLARA, USA: Beceem Communications, a leading provider of mobile 4G-WiMAX chips, announced that its industry leading, high-performance BCS5200 4G-WiMAX chipset is powering the “Freedom 4G” CPE used in Open Range’s new “Perfectly Simple” wireless broadband service offered currently in Northern Colorado and soon in a number of rural markets in a dozen other states.

With Perfectly Simple service, consumers and businesses can access high speed Internet wirelessly, at true broadband speeds. And using the Freedom 4G CPE, users also enjoy built-in WiFi as well as local and long distance digital phone service.

“Beceem’s 4G semiconductor solutions provided the perfect combination of high-performance and full feature integration for our Freedom 4G modem, enabling our Perfectly Simple 4G-WiMAX service to give consumers the ability to get connected at true broadband speeds,” said Keith Paglusch, Open Range’s EVP of Network Development.

“We appreciate Beceem’s support and expertise during the deployment and launch of our 4G-WiMAX wireless broadband network – the realization of the Open Range vision to provide an indispensable service in areas of our country where broadband connectivity to the home or office has been too limited and expensive,” Paglusch said.

The Open Range network is deployed in the S Band, and the close collaboration between Open Range and Beceem was instrumental in optimizing the network performance.

“The success of Open Range in bringing broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities in rural areas across the US is partly based on our innovative Uplink Turbo solution that provides an extra performance boost at the cell edge,” said Aditya Agrawal, Senior Director of Marketing at Beceem.
