IXYS intros higher operating temperatures for bi-polar modules

BIEL, SWITZERLAND: IXYS Corp., a leader in power semiconductors and integrated circuits for power conversion and motion control applications, has announced a new package generation called Simbus A for its phase-leg rectifier module range.

“IXYS is committed to continue to widen the options for our customers in power rectification,” commented Bradley Green, VP of International Sales for IXYS. “With the qualification of the Simbus A package outline IXYS is introducing additional features which improve assembly time like spring contacts for solder-free connection of the control board and its growing range of 17mm height rectifier modules.”

“A maximum junction temperature of 140 degrees centigrade facilitated by our well proven clip-soldered die technology delivers the designer a module with an extremely high power density and improved reliability when compared to comparative designs from competition.”

The first products are a set of three 1600V phase-leg rectifier topologies. The dual thyristor module “MCMA200P1600SA” features two thyristors of 200A rating in phase leg topology and will be followed by the dual diode version “MDMA200P1600SA” and the thyristor/diode combination “MCMA200PD1600SA” for a more flexible circuit requirement.

The Simbus A also includes IXYS` Direct Copper Bonded (DCB) substrates that allow the user 4800V isolation voltage from terminals to heatsink.

A common application for the Simbus A is the input bridge rectification for AC or DC motor control with 230V AC mains supply.
