Cypress and Mewtel sign VAR agreement

SAN JOSE, USA: Cypress Semiconductor Corp. and Mewtel Technology Inc. have signed a value-added reseller agreement whereby Mewtel will develop solutions with and sell Cypress’s PSoC programmable system-on-chip line to customers in Korea as part of the CyPros program.

Mewtel offers advanced analog, microcontroller, RF and ASIC design expertise, along with a strong network of relationships with Korean manufacturing and design houses. The company is expected to expand the opportunities for PSoC designs in Korea.

Mewtel has already created working reference designs with Cypress’s new PSoC 3 devices in which multiple manufacturers have expressed interest. In addition, Mewtel has identified over 10 applications for which it will target PSoC designs initially.

“Mewtel has demonstrated technical expertise, market savvy and strong initiative—all of which are requirements for success,” said Geoff Charubin, vice president of Worldwide Distribution for Cypress. “We are excited to work with the Mewtel team and customers in Korea to design PSoC into many new applications.”

“The PSoC architecture is unique among the many options we have evaluated,” said Cheol-Joong Kim, vice president of sales for Mewtel. “It is a perfect fit for our technical expertise, and we are confident that we can help our customers to create better and more cost-effective products quickly working with Cypress.”
