Lineage Power announces DPT patent license agreement with Power-One

PLANO, USA: Lineage Power Corp., a Gores Group company, and Power-One, a leader in power, have executed a non-exclusive, worldwide Field-of-Use agreement for Power-One’s digital power technology (DPT) patents. The agreement expands the market for Lineage Power’s leading line of DC-DC point-of-load (POL) converters with the new digital DLynx Series.

As the POL market leader in DC-DC board-mounted power, Lineage Power will leverage the new license agreement in the digital DLynx family of 3A to 40A POLs compliant with the Power Management Bus (PMBus) communications protocol. The standards-based approach provides original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and design engineers with modular packages for flexible custom designs that reduce risk and accelerate development schedules.

Digital power is a key ingredient to Lineage Power’s end-to-end Total Efficiency architecture that helps customers optimize energy efficiency, lower cooling costs, and ensure decades of reliable operation. Digital power provides access to critical load information including current and voltage, enabling the system to monitor the power consumption at the highest possible resolution—at the processor or load.

“The digital power licensing agreement with Power-One enables Lineage Power to extend our decade of expertise with digital DC power control technology for telecom energy systems to the digital board-mounted power industry,” explained Niklas Fallgren, vice president and general manager of Lineage Power’s Embedded OEM division. “Our focus is to provide customers and partners with a wide choice of innovative, multi-sourced digital bus converters and digital POLs.”

"We are excited to partner with Lineage Power, a leader in DC-DC power modules, as we work together to grow the rapidly expanding digital power management market," commented Alex Levran, chief technology officer for Power-One. "With the expanding number of leading power companies partnering with Power-One, we will continue to grow the market by providing energy-efficient technologies with increased functionality for our customers. This agreement enables us to initiate further technological collaboration between both companies."
