USA: Leadcore Technology Co. Ltd. has licensed a suite of ARM IP, including the ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore Processor, the ARM Mali-400 MP Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and the ARM Cortex-A9 Performance Optimization Pack for the TSMC 40LP process technology. Leadcore will integrate the ARM CPU and GPU-based applications processor with its own baseband chip to target high-end smartphones based on the China’s 3G standard, TD-SCDMA.
Leadcore selected ARM for its comprehensive range of IP and for its recognized pedigree in the mobile market. As an ARM Partner, Leadcore also benefits from access to the ARM Connected Community, a global network of companies with access to a wide variety of resources and aligned to provide best-in-class solutions based on the ARM architecture.
With this combination of ARM IP, Leadcore Technology will deliver an integrated solution optimized for the application and processor. This includes reduced memory bandwidth for higher performance and lower power, leading to more efficient data sharing in smart systems, such as high-end smartphones.
The ARM Cortex-A9 processor provides market-leading performance and power efficiency, making it an ideal solution for designs requiring high performance in low power or thermally constrained cost-sensitive devices.
Mali-400 MP is the world’s first OpenGL ES 2.0 conformant embedded multi-core GPU. It provides 2D and 3D acceleration with performance scalable up to 1080p resolutions, while maintaining ARM leadership on power and bandwidth efficiency.
The ARM Cortex-A9 Processor Optimization Pack (POP) provides a highly tuned foundation for implementing Cortex-A9 processors in low power, mobile applications. Based on ARM Artisan® optimized logic and memory Physical IP, the POP is also supported by implementation knowledge and ARM benchmarking, providing a rich foundation for leading edge System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
ARM designs the technology that is at the heart of advanced digital products, from wireless, networking and consumer entertainment solutions to imaging, automotive, security and storage devices. ARM’s comprehensive product offering includes 32-bit RISC microprocessors, graphics processors, video engines, enabling software, cell libraries, embedded memories, high-speed connectivity products, peripherals and development tools.
Combined with comprehensive design services, training, support and maintenance, and the company’s broad Partner community, they provide a total system solution that offers a fast, reliable path to market for leading electronics companies.
