OSI Solutions joins Macnica Group

SOLANA BEACH, USA: Macnica Inc. of Japan announced that it has completed the purchase of a majority ownership of OSI Solutions Inc., a Delaware corporation, as of September 30, 2011.

Macnica is a leading Japanese demand creation distributor with annual sales of approximately $2.2 billion and represents premier semiconductor companies such as Altera Corp. in Japan, China, Taiwan, ASEAN, and South Asia. Since its establishment in 2008, OSI Solutions, Inc. has focused on providing demand creation activities in North America and is also franchised for Altera, with currently nine sales offices across North America.

Macnica’s CEO, Kiyoshi Nakashima, commented: “The investment in OSI represents an exciting opportunity to continue our global expansion by adding coverage of North America. With OSI's supplier relationships based on its strong engineering foundation and demand creation, we can extend the same level of design intensive distribution services in one of the most important electronics markets in the world. We are thrilled by the possibilities this opens for us.”

John Burton, president of OSI Solutions, commented: ”We have been working with the Macnica team in Asia since our global alliance agreement in February, 2010. We are delighted to become an official member of the Macnica group. Their expertise and resources will allow us to significantly speed up our expansion and growth in North America. We feel they fully understand and support our combination of design services, IP development, and logistics that has helped us make such a successful start in the North American market place.”

After the investment, OSI Solutions, Inc. will immediately be re-named Macnica Americas Inc. The company strategy and the management team will remain unchanged.
