Everspin enables spin-torque MRAM ecosystem

CHANDLER, USA: Recognizing that next-generation MRAM products will require support from ecosystem partners, Everspin Technologies is working with industry-leading software and tool developers to prepare for the upcoming introduction of Spin-Torque MRAM.

Customers have been using Everspin MRAM (magnetic random access memory) products for several years in a wide range of applications across industrial, storage, automotive and energy markets. Now Everspin is gearing up to enable the ecosystem to be ready for its next-generation Spin-Torque technology-based MRAM products, which the company plans to introduce next year.

The memory models for Spin-Torque MRAM are available from Cadence Design Systems, a leader in global electronic design innovation, as part of the Cadence Verification IP Catalog.

“In an effort to enable the ecosystem to be ready for our upcoming Spin-Torque MRAM products, we are working with partners to ensure design-in tools are available as well,” said Everspin CEO and president Phill LoPresti. “Our engagement with Cadence provides memory models that can be used in conjunction with various dynamic memory controller offerings.”

The Cadence Verification IP Catalog provides support for more than 30 complex protocols and over 6,000 memory devices, enabling semiconductor and system companies to effectively develop and integrate IP, SoCs and systems. The memory models provide the most complete solution for modeling and simulating memory, ensuring system correctness. The models utilize a powerful and effective approach to modeling memory with vendor-specific features and timing defined within a SOMA (Specification of Modeling Architecture) file. Cadence maintains a comprehensive database of SOMA files online at eMemory.com.

“Cadence has a long history of supporting new memory technologies early in their lifecycles,” said Scott Jacobson, product marketing manager, System & Software Realization Group at Cadence. “As a critical piece of the design ecosystem, our memory models, including those for MRAM, enable customers to ensure quality and reduce the time-to-market associated with their semiconductor and system development.”
