Three NVIDIA GeForce GPUs drive world’s most powerful 17-inch Alienware notebook

SANTA CLARA, USA: Alienware, Dell’s premier high-performance PC gaming brand, unveiled today the M17x, with three NVIDIA GeForce graphics processing units (GPUs) to provide an unrivaled visual computing experience.

As a launch vehicle for the global expansion of the Alienware brand, Alienware equipped the M17x with a pair of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M enthusiast-class GPUs with NVIDIA SLI Technology along with the GeForce 9400M GPU to create the world’s most powerful 17-inch notebook.

“NVIDIA GeForce GPUs delivered the no compromise performance we demanded from our flagship gaming notebook,” said Arthur Lewis, general manager for Dell’s gaming group. “With the M17x, we will offer gamers in 35 countries the most innovative notebook product Alienware has ever created.”

“Alienware built the M17x specifically for gamers, and gamers want GeForce graphics,” said Rene Haas, general manager of notebook GPUs at NVIDIA. “By pushing technology and design innovation, Alienware strives to deliver the best, most immersive gaming experience possible.”

Built with the gamer in mind, the M17x pushes technology and design innovation, establishing a precedent for combining best-in-class performance with striking design. Alienware M17x laptops deliver scorching gaming performance by combining the horsepower of two discrete GeForce GTX 280M GPUs with NVIDIA SLI technology, and have the option of switching to a quiet operation mode with NVIDIA HybridPower technology.

In HybridPower operation, the powerful GTX 280M GPUs are powered down and graphics operation is transferred to the GeForce 9400M GPU to save battery life while still delivering great graphics.
