iSuppli enhances memory analysis team

EL SEGUNDO, USA: iSuppli Corp. announced the addition of a new member to its research team: Michael Yang, a former Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Intel Corp. executive, who boasts an extensive background in the semiconductor business.

Yang joins iSuppli in the position of senior analyst, mobile flash memory and storage solutions. He will have responsibility for iSuppli research in the areas of mobile flash memory and hard disk drives and will work to increase the depth of company coverage of Solid State Drives (SSDs).

“Michael joins iSuppli from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. where he led the product marketing efforts for SSDs and mobile memory chips,” said Nam Hyung Kim, director and chief analyst, memory solutions, for iSuppli. “He also worked for Intel Corp.’s flash products group prior to his seven-year tenure at Samsung. Michael’s strong technical and product marketing background as well as his communications skills make him a valuable addition to the iSuppli team.”

At Samsung, Yang expanded the company’s mobile memory business, which included products like OneNAND, eMMC and MCP. He later initiated the company’s SSD business strategy.

“At iSuppli, I plan to expand the company’s market-leading research on SSD technology,” Yang said. “Our SSD research will move beyond iSuppli’s current coverage of compute platforms and address other exciting areas, including industrial, consumer and enterprise applications.”
