WILSONVILLE, USA: Mentor Graphics Corp. announced that its Mentor Embedded In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) Base Platform now meets the compliance requirements of the GENIVI Alliance, an automotive and consumer electronics industry association driving the collaborative development of open source IVI systems. The Mentor Embedded IVI Base Platform is one of the first products to achieve compliance, enabling automotive OEMs and software developers to deliver IVI systems that strictly adhere to GENIVI specifications.
The Mentor Embedded IVI Base Platform integrates graphics, communication and multimedia middleware with libraries, system infrastructure, and management components on top of Linux and relevant drivers. The Platform is available for both the Intel Atom processor and ARM architectures. When combined with the Mentor Embedded development tools and expert services, automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their suppliers have a comprehensive solution for building the next generation of IVI systems on open source software.
“GENIVI compliance has become a critical requirement among automotive OEMs,” said Steve Crumb, executive director of the GENIVI Alliance. “Participation in the GENIVI compliance program will enable Mentor Graphics to provide compliant offerings that help accelerate the development of new IVI products for tomorrow’s vehicles.”
“Meeting GENIVI compliance standards will reduce OEM development costs and create dynamic, customized solutions with minimal risk,” stated Peter Popov, director of Mentor Embedded Automotive Solutions and GENIVI board member. “Mentor will continue to invest in new embedded software technologies and contribute to the open source community for IVI advancements.”
