Cosmic Circuits announces availability of platform for power management ASICs

BANGALORE, INDIA & CAMPBELL, USA: Cosmic Circuits, a leading provider of Analog and Mixed Signal ASICs announced the availability of platform for creating Power Management ASICs.

Cosmic Circuits has a broad IP portfolio that forms the foundation for the platform. Typically ASIC design for Power management engagement begins with a high level requirement from the customer followed by development of detailed specification which Cosmic develops along with the customer.

Cosmic Circuits has strong partnerships with foundry, test development and packaging and assembly vendors to ensure the delivery of a complete turnkey solution to the customer with definite lead times and fixed costs.

The platform for Power management ASICs is based on silicon proven Switching regulators, linear regulators, Charge Pump, Oscillators and LED driver blocks. The Analog designs are implemented in 0.18um technology.

Rupak, director of PM ASIC, Cosmic Circuits, said: “The platform is aimed at portable devices which typically require small form factor components and high efficiency. To reduce the system BOM, integration of multiple other functions like Audio CODEC, Monitor ADC, Silicon oscillators etc is desired along with the power regulators.

"The 0.18um technology enables to integrate these functions on a single chip. Cosmic’s PM ASIC platform is going to get broadened with High voltage LED drivers, Battery chargers with MPPT to cater to some of the emerging markets along with portable devices. A special software tool (to be released to customers shortly) has been developed to help the customers to define the PM ASICs based on the IP components of the platform.”

Further commenting on the PM ASIC platform Rupak added that Cosmic Circuits is currently catering to customers across various geographical regions and plan to engage in more PM ASICs based on the above platform in the year 2011.
