SAN JOSE, USA: Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that it has licensed 130-nm and 65-nm SONOS (Silicon Oxide Nitride Oxide Silicon) embedded nonvolatile memory technology IP to Innopower Technology Corp.
Under the licensing agreement, Innopower will combine Cypress’s technology with its technical support services and other IP elements to help designers of next-generation SOCs and ASICs integrate non-volatile memory (NVM) solutions within their new ICs.
Cypress’s NVM solutions are built using SONOS technology and are compatible with available logic technology. The NVM solutions are scalable alternatives to one-time-programmable (OTP) and multiple-time-programmable (MTP) technologies, and include macros and a compiler. Innopower is experienced in memory IP design and development, including maintenance and support of IP.
The company offers leading SRAM memory compilers that provide designers with a variety of embedded memory in the form of reusable IP for ASIC and SoC designs. With the Cypress technology, Innopower will be able to offer embedded flash solutions to customers in communication and consumer electronics markets, an important addition to its product portfolio that brings complete memory solutions to customers.
"The agreement with Innopower will be mutually beneficial," said Babak Taheri, VP of Corporate Third-Party IP at Cypress. "Innopower’s solid experiences in memory IP development and excellent technical support will accelerate the growth of our SONOS embedded flash IP in the emerging SoC market."
"We are pleased to work with Cypress to bring a highly reliable embedded flash solution to our customers," said Lee Chu, VP of Business Development at Innopower. "Cypress's embedded flash technology has been used in hundreds of millions of SoC devices around the world. The combination of Innopower's SoC IP and Cypress’s NVM IP will bring powerful capabilities to our customers."
Cypress’s embedded flash IP has been shipping in high volumes at 130-nm at several foundries. It has also been verified on a 65-nm LL process. Design kits are available for customers upon request.
