IDT HQV Vida processor selected for Yamaha AVENTAGE audio/video receiver

SAN JOSE, USA: Integrated Device Technology Inc. (IDT) announced that the IDT HQV Vida processor was selected for use in the new Yamaha AVENTAGE audio/video receiver.

The Vida processor takes the industry-leading Hollywood Quality Video processing technology to a new level of performance, significantly improving the viewing experience for the consumer and allowing Yamaha to offer its customers an unrivaled home entertainment experience.

“The HQV Vida processor from IDT provides the highest-quality video processing in the industry, which is exactly what we were looking to include in the AVENTAGE receiver,” said Eiji Takeuchi, assistant engineering manager at Yamaha Corp. “We rethought every electrical path, every part, every piece of material to maximize performance, and that made it critical to include the best processors in the industry, such as the IDT HQV Vida.”

The Yamaha AVENTAGE audio/video receiver is a dramatic, inspired leap forward in audio/video component design. AVENTAGE brings studio-grade sound and sophisticated video enhancements to home entertainment with unparalleled attention to detail in design, engineering and fabrication.

“Yamaha is one of the most trusted names in the audio and video industry, and we are pleased to be included in its latest groundbreaking product,” said Ji Park, vice president and general manager of the Video and Display Operation at IDT. “Yamaha recognizes that HQV is known as the premier standard in video processing today. And, with the Vida device, HQV takes video processing to a new level of excellence.”

The Vida processor enhances image detail and quality with four-field motion adaptive de-interlacing, multi cadence tracking, 12-bit color processing and resolution enhancement. The result transforms standard-definition sources to HD quality and makes HD look even more detailed. Moreover, the device provides real-time clean up of highly compressed video, reducing compression artifacts of block and mosquito noise from lower-quality sources.

The IDT VHD1900 incorporates two new IDT HQV technologies — Auto HQV and HQV StreamClean — which automatically enhance the incoming image and provide powerful clean-up of source video, allowing the picture to be as crisp and clean as possible.

Auto HQV enables hands-free adjustment to optimize image quality of content from different sources or content that varies in quality. It also analyzes the video content to adaptively adjust image and noise processing parameters to optimize image quality and reduce artifacts. HQV StreamClean incorporates three noise reductions techniques — adaptive mosquito, block, and temporal — to selectively reduce these difficult-to-remove image artifacts.

The latest offering from IDT HQV also features 14-bit internal processing and 12-bit output for deep color processing and 3D gamut conversion for xvYCC processing. These capabilities provide accurate conversion of regular and wide gamut content to the display’s native gamut.
