Cypress TrueTouch solution drives touchscreens for Samsung Wave 2 and Galaxy family of mobile phones

SAN JOSE, USA: Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has selected the TrueTouch solution from Cypress to implement the touchscreen in the Wave 2 and Galaxy 5 mobile phones.

The Wave 2 and Galaxy families both include multiple innovative models that bring high-end smartphone functionality to the world wide markets. The Wave 2 models include a variety of features, including convenient social media access, high-resolution cameras, and in some cases an additional QWERTY keyboard. They all provide highly responsive and accurate touchscreens using the Cypress TrueTouch solution and are powered by Bada/Android operating systems, depending on the model.

The TrueTouch controller families chosen by Samsung offer an integrated analog sensing engine for the industry’s fastest and most accurate touchscreen user experience. This responsiveness allows tracking of multiple fingers simultaneously with precise x-y locations and without user delays or problems with erroneous “ghost” responses. The devices also offer Cypress’s legendary noise immunity and very low power consumption – an ideal combination for today’s smartphone market.

“Samsung is an excellent example of a world leader that trusts Cypress TrueTouch solutions to help them deliver world-class phones,” said Norm Taffe, executive vice president of Cypress’s Consumer and Computation Division. “We are building on our technology and market leadership to ensure that customers such as Samsung continue to partner with us.”
