BEIJING, CHINA: AltoBeam, a leading Digital Television (DTV) demodulator IC maker, has released its third generation CTTB/DTMB terrestrial DTV demodulators, the ATBM884x product family.
Powered by AltoBeam’s unique algorithms that seamlessly incorporate both single-carrier and multi-carrier modes, the ATBM884x family is in full compliance with China’s terrestrial DTV broadcasting standard, the DTMB (GB20600-2006).
Based on field tests conducted by DTV service providers, the ATBM884x leads its peers, by large margins, in Synchronous Frequency Network (SFN) performance. The significance is that, with the SFN being expected to dominate China’s terrestrial DTV infrastructure in the foreseeable future, the ATBM884x enables DTV makers to achieve a critical competitive advantage in stable SFN receiving capability.
The ATBM884x exhibits exceptional receiving qualities under multi-path and dynamic echoes conditions. The ATBM884x is the only DTMB demodulator that supports smooth high mobility reception in single-carrier 32QAM (CESI Mode 7) environment.
This advantage is also beneficial in fixed reception applications: living room TVs close to streets or water-fronts are susceptible to multi-path dynamic-echo interferences induced by traffic or tidal waves, and the ATBM884x, greatly reducing these interferences, can bring much improved viewing experience to the TV users.
“No matter how strong the broadcasting signals are, if the multi-path echoes cannot be resolved, the pictures can be distorted greatly, and sometimes ‘black screen’ could be displayed,” said Dr. Steve Chaohuang Zeng, founder and CEO of AltoBeam.
“We developed the ATBM884x family as a direct answer to this challenge. The ATBM884x allows DTV makers to develop products that are suitable in the real environments, supports them to establish quality-based brand recognition, and reduces their dependency on post-sales calibration and technical supports.”
“Due to its industry leading SFN, multi-path and dynamic echo performance, a majority of the Tier One TV makers, both international and domestic, have started developing DTVs based on the ATBM884x,” added Qi Deng, VP of International Sales of AltoBeam.
“In addition, AltoBeam provides complete development kits, test packages, and reference source code, all critical for our customers to develop products in the most time-efficient and cost-effective fashion.”
