Trident and LG CNS collaborate for advanced Android STB

SUNNYVALE, USA: Trident Microsystems Inc., a leading provider of set-top box and TV semiconductor solutions, announced that its latest set-top box system-on-a-chip (SoCs) powers an advanced Android-based hybrid STB developed by LG CNS of South Korea.

Deog-Joo Won, vice president of LG CNS's Telecom and Media Business Unit commented, "LG CNS is pleased to collaborate with Trident for advanced Android solutions. Our experience with system software development and integration with the advanced Trident SoC delivers a compelling product that addresses emerging consumer requirements for more and more web-based content."

Trident and LG CNS worked together to offer a system solution to enable service operators to provide products that merge traditional broadcast content, video-on-demand and IP-based content. Trident's ARM-based SoC solution supports the Android ecosystem, providing superior time to market and performance. Trident's support of the Android OS also allows service providers to offer business models with new apps and services for subscribers.
