ON Semiconductor continues to expand platform solutions for next gen computing products

IDF 2011 SAN FRANCISCO, USA: ON Semiconductor continues to expand its portfolio of products to simplify and speed the design of computing platforms.

“Our strategy continues to focus on developing products that enable computer OEMs to simplify their design and speed development while reducing overall power consumption and saving board space,” said Bill Schromm, ON Semiconductor senior VP and GM of Computing and Consumer Products. “Our focus on increased efficiency, power density, and signal integrity is required as lines between traditional computing and mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, become increasingly blurred.”

ON Semiconductor’s portfolio addresses the major subsystems in desktop, server, notebook, and tablet computing – including CPU power delivery, thermal management, power conversion in traditional silver-box type power supplies and adapters, and high-speed interface switching and protection.

An expanded product offering also addresses the industry’s increased migration of computing technologies into mobile platforms, like smart phones, with the company’s recent release of the industry’s first Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) switch that allows users to simultaneously transfer high definition (HD) video from smart phones and tablets to HD TVs while charging their battery.
