Conexant launches two new USB audio product families

NEWPORT BEACH, USA: Conexant Systems Inc., a leading supplier of innovative semiconductor solutions for imaging, audio, embedded modem, and video surveillance applications, today announced the CX2077x and CX3102x product families.

The CX2077x is the industry’s first USB audio integrated circuit (IC) that incorporates the functionality of an on-chip digital signal processor (DSP), tri-color LED Pulse-Width Modulator (PWM) and LED driver into a single chip package. The CX2077x and CX3102x are part of Conexant’s embedded audio solutions and are specifically designed for USB audio peripherals including headsets, headphones, microphones, docking stations and speakers.

Enabling audio designers to develop user-friendly differentiated end products, the new product lines feature an internal tri-color RGB (red, green and blue) PWM LED driver and controller. Each LED output has its own eight-bit resolution PWM controller for brightness and dimming control. The tri-color PWM LED driver makes it possible to design products that are visually appealing and energy-efficient with an LED light source that communicates on/off status, power standby mode and other status indicators.

In addition, both product families feature Conexant’s award-winning on-chip DSP, which runs a suite of proprietary voice processing algorithms and audio post-processing effects that dramatically improve sound quality and free up processing power for other applications. Conexant has taken care to design the new family with audio enhancements and optimization for speakers and microphones to provide an unparalleled audio and voice experience. The new chip family also offers an optional keypad, text LCD display interface and dual audio end points.

“When it comes to USB audio peripherals for gaming, Skype and Unified Communications, OEMs require solutions that deliver great audio quality but must also be supported by strategic features that provide visual feedback and tactile interfaces,” said Sailesh Chittipeddi, Conexant president and CEO. “Our customers know they can count on Conexant as a strategic technology partner that is committed to the audio market and will work with them to create the highest quality products available.”

Key DSP enhancements offered in the CX2077x include Super Wideband noise reduction, sub-band acoustic echo cancellation, dynamic range control, 3D sound effects, and microphone auto gain control.
