Sequans expands operations in China

SHANGHAI, CHINA & PARIS, FRANCE: 4G chipmaker Sequans has announced the opening of a new office in Shanghai, China.

Sequans established the local presence to better serve its Chinese customers and to more readily respond to the company’s rapidly growing business demands in China.

Concurrently, Sequans announced the appointment of Alex Shang to the position of China country manager. Shang has many years of experience in wireless and telecom and has managed business development in both China and the United States for leading companies including Ericsson, Motorola, and Nortel.

Sequans is providing WiMAX and LTE chips for several projects in China, including WiMAX projects with Huawei and LTE projects with China Mobile to whom Sequans provided LTE chips and USB dongles for China Mobile’s recent launch of the world’s first TD-LTE demonstration network in Shanghai for the World Expo.
