Broadcom Bluetooth technology built for TiVo's new keyboard remote control, TiVo Slide

IRVINE, USA: Broadcom Corp. announced that TiVo Inc., a leader in advanced television services including digital video recorders (DVRs), has adopted Broadcom Bluetooth technology in an advanced remote control that enables consumers to take full advantage of the features, applications and services available through TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo Premiere boxes.

The new TiVo Slide QWERTY keyboard remote control is the first TiVo remote to feature Bluetooth, enabling comfortable text entry for search and discovery of content.

The enhanced functionality of this remote control highlights the increasing attractiveness of Bluetooth as a wireless connectivity technology in consumer electronics, enabling non-line of sight and two-way operation.

With Bluetooth, the TiVo Slide remote enables consumers to enjoy a more intuitive user-experience, Using a QWERTY keyboard for text entry on the TV is becoming more and more prevalent as leading online content providers (such as Netflix, YouTube and others) transition the HD television experience in the living room.
