iSuppli moves European briefing to December

EL SEGUNDO, USA: Because of the severe travel disruptions caused by the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland, iSuppli Corp. has rescheduled its 2010 European Briefing Series to December, 2010.

The briefing now will take place on December 1-3 at the Hôtel Concorde in Berlin.
The dates have changed and so has the electronics supply chain. To this end, iSuppli has expanded the event to three full days and increased is focus on procurement challenges in 2010 and 2011.

That said, the, overall theme of the briefing will remain the same: how the technology industry can capitalize on the market recovery, with the event entitled: What's Next in the Renewed Economy—Impacts on the Electronics Value Chain.

“The downturn of late 2008 and early 2009 had a very different dynamic than anything that the electronics industry has seen before,” said Derek Lidow, CEO of iSuppli. “Previous downturns were caused by excess capacity. This one was caused by a steep and sudden drop in demand. We’ve never had a demand-less downturn in electronics. Even as conditions improve, the market remains in uncharted territory.”

The global macroeconomic recession of 2009 will continue to have dramatic implications for the electronics value chain in 2010. With revenues falling by as much as 50 percent in some electronic sectors and with entire markets undergoing fundamental changes, the renewed economy of 2010 and beyond requires all participants in the electronics value chain to review and adjust their business strategies.

To help technology firms realign their strategies, iSuppli’s European Briefing will feature insightful presentations from top iSuppli experts, as well as invited industry speakers from ST-Ericsson Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR), Nokia, Infineon, Jabil, Vodafone, O2, STMicroelectronics and others.

ST-Ericsson, CSR and Nokia executives share insights
