ChipStart starts distributing PDTi SpectaReg EDA tool

PALO ALTO, USA: ChipStart LLC, a semiconductor intellectual property solution company, announced it will begin distributing PDTi's SpectaReg on-chip register automation tool, which uses a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

With a growing number of point EDA tools becoming available, the need to reform the traditional EDA business model becomes necessary to ensure companies can continue to adopt these point tools without getting buried in hosting support costs and license management issues. By using a SaaS model, engineering teams can now realize the same benefits for their EDA point tools as other departments in the company do through their business systems engagements.

"Lots of companies today are finding excellent value using point EDA tools, but the accumulation of the deployment costs are becoming very expensive." says Howard Pakosh, president, ChipStart LLC. "ChipStart and PDTi are coming together to drive the SaaS model into the mainstream."

SpectaReg, from PDTi, is an essential web-based register automation tool for software/hardware interface design. SpectaReg's web-browser GUI simplifies engineering workflows, cutting development time and costs. Specifications are easily read into the tool and matching hardware logic, hardware verification, firmware, documentation and more are automatically generated from a single source.
Unlike traditional in-house solutions and competing offerings, SpectaReg is a collaborative web application that easily scales across teams and locations. SpectaReg.com is the industry's first true SaaS register automation tool. SpectaReg is also available onsite for companies with restrictive SaaS adoption policies.
